hysterical

she forces words and womanhood on me until i am submerged
& i cannot love her because she is a child

royal blue envy soaks the sheets she spills her suffering to
inkblotted, the tips of her fingers
leaking aquamarine, coughing beneath her clothes
choking sputtering bright pink so all the world knows she’s been there

here with me on the monochrome page

ive bought several new dictionaries
painstakingly scratched out hysterical written her name to replace
definitions change when we move on or
when we discover something better

she’s a better definition of hysterical
